I'm Seth Hancock, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist with a musical journey that started at the age of five and was continued and shaped at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. As a fervent songwriter and musician, my passion extends beyond the guitars and keyboards to the intricate art of composition, crafting musical cues that resonate with the visual narratives of television and film.
I was born in the Midwest but call Detroit my hometown. And, much like the city of Detroit I embody a lot of those qualities - strong, hard-working, diverse, dependable and with an unyielding drive for excellence. It's as if the spirit of Detroit flows through my veins and influences my mindset and approach to both life and work.
My Influences and Style
Take the romantic, classical elegance of Schubert and Beethoven and combine them with the soulful and funky touch of Prince, the storytelling prowess of Joni Mitchell and the power of Rage Against the Machine and you get a more defined, musical image of me. Frankly, I think it's a testament to my versatility as a musician and composer to seamlessly navigate between classical intricacies and the raw, expressive nature of rock, pop and soul. The ability to draw from such a wide range of influences and mold them into a cohesive and impactful musical sound is a true art and I am constantly growing and evolving as a songwriter,
musician and producer.
No Ego, No Obstructions...
First of all, I am all about serving the song and making something that is kick ass, unforgettable and true to myself and any artist with whom I work. If you've got a musical story to tell then let's make some noise together. Next, one of my favorite things is when someone trusts me enough to mix or produce their song. You can't imagine how excited l get when someone hands their song over, and says, "Work your magic." Lastly, I have a dedication to making the song the very best it can be and will not finish or settle for something mediocre or lackluster. And, just like my varied influences, I love to work with all types of clients, in all musical genres and at all levels of experience.
